I have to admit I have never been a big fan of the site-wide hyperlinking logo's designers add to their clients websites. I have heard many arguments on this subject and in the end I have always come to the conclusion that unless it is discussed prior or added to the contract the designer is wrong to do this.
I have heard designers say it is mealy like a tag you find on a piece of clothing, this to some extent is true, however all the tags on my clothes are discreetly tucked away on the inside of the piece of clothing. I would have no problem with a non-hyperlinking line of text discreetly placed on the inside of a website.
It is obvious why designers adopt these tactics and I guess if I was in their position I would do exactly the same, however this does not make it right.
I came across something yesterday however that made me realise SEO specialists are now adopting a similar tactic, however as you can see they are being far from discrete about it http://www.liverpoollocksmith.co.uk/

OMG... that is ridiculously blatant! I would never ever stand for that if I were that company.
I am thoroughly shocked. Great blog btw. |

Thanks Rob,
You were probably as shocked as me. Is it a sign of things to come. Have a good holiday mate. |

Gosh that can't be a sign of times to come can it?
I can't imagine one client ever allowing that! I hope it was a joke! |
