My Books! Halleluah!

Posted March 10th, 2008 at 04:57 PM by Jack Franklin
On February 20th, I ordered 2 books from Sitepoint, 'The PHP Anthology' and 'Simple Javascript'. I ordered quick delivery, and they were due by March 3rd. When they didn't arrive, I emailed them, and to be fair, they were great. They refunded my extra payment for quick delivery, and promised to reship if they did not arrive by the 10th.

They finally arrived! I'm really looking forward to getting some more advanced PHP stuff done and finally learning Javascript! Which I've been planning to do for 2 years now!

I've also ordered a book by O'Reilly on Object Orientated PHP of Ebay on the cheap, and I can't wait for that! Hoorah for books!

Some might say that the web is the best place: free, up to date, easy to access. But personally, I prefer books. I guess it's personal preference.

I am the same as you, learn better from books!

Currently I own a CSS And PHP book, both have got me through a lot, and have enjoyed the read!

Remember to post us your review of the books

THe PHP Anthology is very hard! It says it's recommended for people with basic knowledge of PHP 4. (Me.) In the 2nd chapter, after the boring intro, it talks about accessing a database via PDO? It shows the code but such little explanation. I guess it needs a bit more time to work on.

A800 - I'll let you know how good/bad the book is when I use it
