SEO Geo-Targeting

in order for websites to be successful they must rank highly for search engines, sometimes locally, sometimes globally, depending on the site.

there are a number of ways you can geo-target your website to a local country:
  • domain - TLDs often indicate where a site is located and will often rank higher in their corresponding local SE's
  • IP addresses - often a cause of contention, but google themselves have started that in the absesnce of a TLD they do look at IP addresses
  • google webmaster tools - new tools allow you to target a certain country or globally. this obviously only works for google
  • semantic code - yes really this does help with goe-targeting, using <address> helps SE's find you in local search's
  • local keywords - a must if targeting a local area or country
So my question to you is, do you geo-target, and if so what techniques do you use?
