Shopping baskets and online payments?
Hey everyone
1st off sorry if this is the wrong forum I had a look about and I guess this is the most suitable forum to post this in.
Anyway currently doing a site for a friends family member, he wants to sell his products online, not a big line up though, unfortunately i've never dabbled in the e-commerce side of it so far.
So can anyone recommend a good company that provides shopping cart systems, he's in a bit of a rush to get it up and running and it would take me to long from scratch to do one, ill be running the payments through a 3rd party like protx or someone, they have a few suggestions on there site but wondering if anyone has had any experince of any?
Thanks
Mat

Re: Shopping baskets and online payments?
Since you mentioned protx, I am assuming you are not in the United States but more then likely in the United Kingdom somewhere?
If so, check out www.mals-e.com

Re: Shopping baskets and online payments?
Lately I've favored the combination of osCommerce and PayPal for my clients e-commerce needs, but I'll admit I'm far from experienced in e-commerce packages.

Hi Mat
If your looking for a quick solution then cubecart is very easy to use and probably more suitable if you dont have a large product lineup but if you wanted more features and potential for growth then we would recommend x-cart.
x-cart does take a little bit of technical knowledge to install and configure but we do the install and configuration in under 1 hour and it can be customised reasonably easy if you know html as its all template based and works with protx.
Hope this helps

Re: Shopping baskets and online payments?
Like you said if you havent many products then paypal is a good choice, but if u start shifting large amounts then your best getting an online gateway and merchant.

Re: Shopping baskets and online payments?
www.yourwebstore.co.uk is the place to go for eCommerce good for beginners and Pro's alike. And Protx is about the best in the UK as far as payment methods go.
