Creating a DVD menu in Flash

Hello all. It's been a while since I was last on. I recently moved and have been involved in other things, like packing, unpacking, getting internet back up, etc..

Anyway, I scoured GOOGLE as well as these forums, and have come up with nothing on the subject, so here it goes.

I would like to put together a menu in Flash for a DVD. I have tried using Nero Vision 4, but that creation is so simple, that it's basically for the inept. I have also tried trial versions of DVDit, which I do like, but the menu-creation aspect doesn't allow as much freedom as I'd like.

I know I can create exactly what I want via Flash. Set up the screen the way I want, make the buttons the exact way I want, everything. Only thing is:

1) What size should I make the stage? I don't want to make it too big or too small. Something with a 3:4 aspect ratio, of course, but I'm not sure the specifics.

2) What would the target button actions be for on(release)? It needs to start up an external file, I think, but I'm not certain if that needs to be keyed into the SWF file, or if I should just use DVDit to link the image to the movie.

3) Anything else that I am missing.

Thanks.

GW

Re: Creating a DVD menu in Flash

720x480 is NTSC TV format so it fits perfect within a "normal TV". You could then export the video clip sequence into an .avi and do the layout over top of it.

Other than that I'm not quite sure about how to call a movie scene in a "dvd" from an on (release) of a button. But I will do some checking!
