Image - Expand on Hover
Hi there,
due to the exemplary way that your forum helped me in my last quest I have found the strength to try to learn Flash ( everyone I have spoken to have said how difficult it is to learn)
My client wants a site very similar to this layout -
http://www.roche-bobois.com/home3.php?langue=es&pays=es
ie. the second image expand / hover...
Would really appreciate any help?
Firstly do I need to have the initial intro page?
Secondly do you know how I can create the scripts for loading the images that expand on hover? Do I need to create it all in Flash? Do you know of anywhere that I can find the scripts / or info on how to create this?
once again .. any help would be greatly accepted..
beso

Re: Image - Expand on Hover
Well first off you must be talking about the 3 images in the link above, how when the user hovers over the image it expands and gets wider. This is a very easy and professional looking thing you can do within flash. You can accomplish this task by doing motion tweens or shape tweens. Depending on certain factors. The intro page is not required. If you are designing a flash website you design what you want there. If you don't want the intro page then don't put it there. If you are interested in this cool effect. I would love to write a short tutorial for you. This tutorial would cover step by step how to make this image effect. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks!!

Re: Image - Expand on Hover
Thank you so much for your reply.. I was speaking to some web friends and they said that it would be way to difficult ..
If you could do a tutorial it would so fantastic. Words are not enough!!
After playing about with flash ...realised that it has many commands similar to both dreamweaver and photoshop and even Swish ( Macromedia / Adobe - me thinks!!) and as such is not so unlearnable...
but a tutorial would be amazing..
many thanks..

Re: Image - Expand on Hover
Your web friends are crazy lol... This is a very easy effect to achieve in flash. I would be glad to write a quick tutorial when I get home from work. Now of course this effect will probably not look as good as theirs because they spent more time then I am willing to spend making it look perfect. But you will get the picture and be able to improve on it. Sorry I can't write a tutorial till I get home from work, as they don't have flash here at work. So expect one a GREAT tutorial when I get home from work.

Re: Image - Expand on Hover
Ok here you go. The Fla and swf files exported for Macromedia Flash MX2004. Hope this helps you out. There are still some bugs. These bugs can easily be fixed with just a bit of action scripting. Keep in mind I started this project about 5 minutes ago when I got your email, and remembered I was supposed to do a tutorial. I was way too busy to do a tutorial so here is a sample Fla file. This should get you started. Let me know if you need any more help.
Here are the files...
