Re: Forever And A Day

i don't like it so much. The image of the woman is really low quality and has no need to be Flash. The navigation is barely distiguishable from the background when hovered over. Also the navigation could use a little bit more.... pizzaz. Not so keen on the marquee either. And the new image should not be flashing. Nothing is more annoying than a flashing GIF image. Also the "Perfect Pearls" is missing its image.

On to the code: It doesn't validate, and you should probably choose XHTML instead of HTML. Everything is absolute positioned, which should only be used in certain situations. Plus, the table of product catagories should be exactly that: a table. Each one having its own div is bloating your code and is unneccessary. Same with the millions of comments throughout the code. The "Memories that last forever and a day" should most likely be an image. But I'm probably wasting my time, since it seems to be built with homestead sitebuilder.

It's not all bad though. The colors have a very professional look and the layout has a lot of potential.

Just my 2 cents

I have to agree, it looks pretty "cheap". And I can tell right away just by looking at it, that it was WYSIWYG coded and never touched by hand. Code/Design both need significant improvement.

Re: Forever And A Day

For your first website I think this is a great effort.

The left hand navigation needs some work to make it stand out and easier to use, and I would like to see a header with your business name, and possibly an overview of my shopping cart, or similar.

Your special offers and new items need to stand out more to grab your end users attention, and there is proabbly too much on the home page, it's quite busy, so cut it down to the items you do want to sell, and put teasers for the others.

Re: Forever And A Day

Hi,

I haven't really read over what everyone else has said, so please ignore things if I am repeating what has already been said.

Navigation - The rollover colour is too similar to the background colour of the menu bar, make this a bit darker and it will be much better, or me personally I would have the rollover as a background color, but that is just a personal preference.

Links to the products - The link needs some kind of rollover.

The flash banner at the top, I don't like at all, but saying that, I am not a flash fan at all. I feel you could use flash here, but would need to make it more visual appealing, to grab my attention to the products.

I think this is enough to get started
