To Do List, PHP Software

I've had an idea (with some help from simonb) for an interesting PHP software.

It's basically a huge to do list. The admin gives access to whoever and the users can post a 'To-Do' and add extra details to current 'To-Do' items. They can also alter the status of the To-Do items, they could have 'Needs Doing', 'Urgent', 'Low Priority', 'Done', and the To-Dos have a priority.

Obviously other stuff could be added on, but what do you guys think? It could be uploaded to your site at www.yoursite.com/todolist or whatever I name it?

Any thoughts welcome

Re: To Do List, PHP Software

It's a good idea, i've looked for something along these lines, but everything already available just doesn't quite fit the bill.

I've been more interested in it on the basis of when i'm working alongside other people, keeping up to date on project progress, as well as keep clients up to date.

There are a few things similar/like this however, either they're subscription and just not cost effective, or they offer things of no use, or just clutter.

I'd love to see what you come up with [;

Re: To Do List, PHP Software

Well it would be free of course

You could create 'teams' or users working on a certain project, add deadlines and people would recieve notices of the deadlines, give clients access to just the post about their project so they know whats happening, etc?

Re: To Do List, PHP Software

Yeah, exactly... i mean working solo on a project is simple, working with one other person isn't too difficult, but i recently worked on a project with 6 or 7 people and there were emails flying everywhere, by the time i read one, i recieved another. It was just a disaster.

I think it'd be more of a project management script than a to-do list if you added that kind of functionality

Re: To Do List, PHP Software

Yeh it would start as a To-Do list and expand outwards :P

Anyone want to help?

Re: To Do List, PHP Software

I only have a basic understanding of php, i can hack and mod but can't build basically

I do mostly interfacing, and templating, xhtml, css, seo-friendly js, and modding doctypes (that's how you can use target="" with xhtml strict, betcha didn't know that ) etc.

Making purrty interfaces, with interaction that degrades like good js should [;

Some basic graphic skills, or whatever people require of me, i'll get stuck in and i'm not afraid to make mistakes, to learn and to work

Only problem is, we're doing our live broadcast in college in a few weeks, i'm on the video mixer and it's bloody hard... so i'm busy with learning that, as well as tying up the last of my work and prepping to go freelance

Plus i need to find a lodger and make sure i've got enough money to carry me through the year >:

But i'd love to get involved in some actual projects.

I told you the whole idea of MSN mate lol

You could create it so it emails the clints/users when a to-do is added. Also have different projects and asign diffenent people to each etc.

Seems a lot like bugzilla, but ive never really gotten that sounds like a cool idea though, best of luck. (And your gonna use OOP, right? )

Maybe for a name you could do something sorta code related, like: //Todo: or something im terrible with names though lol

Bugzilla is terrible. All the pearl scripts ruin it.

Re: To Do List, PHP Software

Umm I would like to use OO, but the person teaching me kind of sucks

Not sure yet, I would like to, but I need a bit more teaching first

I thought of the name Moject as I merged Manage and Project but I'm not sure, it might sound like Mootools a bit. Pranage? lol.
