Can a rollover be set off by a seperate button?

I am in the process of redesigning my site and I want to show before and after images by using a rollover image. How I initially wanted to do this was just make the whole image a rollover, show the retouched image then rollover to see the before. Then I got to thinking, which was my first problem , what if the rollover loaded and a button could be clicked that would toggle back and forth between before and after while making the rollover change as well. Kinda like below.

I know enough HTML to get by, I was thinking making the button part of the image and using Image Maps to accomplish this. I also thought about possibly making the working part of the image gallery Flash and thought I could make it work that way, but I don't think I'm going to have it down in time to use on this site.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, even if something other than HTML would work. I'm willing to try that.

Thanks,
Larry
