Need Help on First Website

hi all

I am building a website for a small business which i want to start, but i a novice, i last used html approx 10 years ago, and a lot has changed.

I hav built a website for my dry cleaning company, overall i am happy with the website, but i want to get it higher up (as it is not there at all) on the search engine. Now i understand that the search engines use "spiders" to go and search for key word (or something like that), well here is my problem

I built the whole site using firefox and then put all the pages together using dreamweaver, site looks ok for what i want, but everything is displayed as images even the text, so i assume that the spiders will not be able to read the text on the site. i assume this will be a problem

can u confirm this for me & and tellme of any solutions you may know of, the website address is www.cleancleartidy.co.uk I have only uploaded the front page at the mo just to give ppl and myself a idea

Any help would be appreciated

You mean you made the pages in fireworks and sliced the text as part of the layout?

Well I created the pages in fireworks, when u want to create a text u click on the "A" then press it on the page and it creates like a text box, then when i have finish i export it as a HTML and it comes out as image not as text

Sorry i am new to all this, and i hope i am making sense

Ye, unfortunately thats not the way to create websites

U Dont type in any text in fireworks. Only the layout of the site, logos and any image buttons.

The text is added once its in Dreamweaver.

arhhhh, ok

if i do the layout and buttons

How do i do the text in middle

eg: on my site where it says call9785656......i want that to be text how do i set it up like that (do i do it as slice)

You would do it as your doing it now except delete the white space and just type in there normally with Dreamweaver.
