Uploading of files

Would it be a good idea to enable uploading of files in certain forums, maybe like the 'web site critique' category. It would be quite troublesome to upload files to your web server and very bothersome if you don't have your own! In fact, many sites offer sitewide uploads..

It would not such a burden on the web space if you could just limit the file size ( a 1000kb size limit would be a great idea ) or create a 'file quota' or each user ( i.e. the user can have 2mb of space to use to upload files and files can be deleted or added subsequently )

I'm sure it would be great to have that feature.. I believe up to 80 percent of web forums have that.

Ok, Yes it's entirely possible to do. IE automatically limits you to about 1 meg I think and you can limit it again on the server side. We'll have to put some thought to this though for the moment...

Why is it such a useful feature? You can get free webspace from so many places/

i dont think this is correct? Do you mean you get a limit when using input type=file? Ive upload far far more than 1mb when using this method.

I believe it is the upload handler / object that places the limitations, and not IE.

Can someone explian the benefit of 2MB space for each user?

I can't see this being of benefit for what you suggest, as hyperlinks were invented for the purpose of
what you explain. Someone has a site to review in the critiques section.... no problem... don't upload it... just link it!

I mean maybe if what you have just got is a image of the website? not the website itself. something like a preliminary design in graphics format.. Surely it would be more convenient to upload it here!
