Good morning everyone,
I hope the weekend took it easy on you and that you're all looking forward to a terrific week.
I'm brand new to the forum so if this post is in the wrong place I'll thank the moderators to move it to its appropriate home with my apologies for the mistake.
So to the business at hand, I'm interested in speaking with a web designer and/or developer about a new site I need to have built. I know the design I'm looking for and the capabilities I want it to have but since I'm not development savvy in any way I'm looking for honesty, competence, development strength, and creative design that can accompany a conversation about what is feasible and what additional questions should be explored to decide the metrics of success for the business. I'm sure once we're in the design process issues will come up that will cause a re-thinking of things, and I'm fully prepared for that.
I've met with two development companies in Washington, DC, (where I live), and have been given two estimates of price which are dramatically different from one another for the same site. Interestingly enough, the second company suggested that it would be possible for me to act as my own 'general contractor' for the site and hire the designer, developer, architect, etc on my own, (much as you would in building a house), learning at each step in the process and being more involved. It was further suggested that perhaps a smaller design/development company might be an option or even a motivated freelancer...I'm appealing to the webforumz community for either or both.
If anyone is interested in visiting further about this I can always be reached at (210) 865-2732 and
cmgreenberg@hotmail.com. I'll ask that you sign a non-disclosure agreement prior to any conversations about the specifics of the business, and I'd very much like to see samples of your work, but I'm sure that we can come to all of that very quickly and then move onto the more interesting aspects of things. I'm excited to find out what the community thinks and I'm looking forward to hearing from some folks. In the meantime I hope you all have a wonderful day, thank you in advance for your consideration.
Best,
Chris Greenberg
