Google Maps Now with 360 Streetside Views
Google has will be announcing a new 360 streetside view for Google maps at Where 2.0 today, says O’Reily Radar. The 360 views are a better version of Amazon’s A9 static panoramas. Google’s views let users virtually stand in the middle of any street, able to look in a full circle around the location, giving a better feel of the place you’ll be going. It will reportedly be available in Denver, Las Vegas, Miami, New York and San Francisco.
The imaging used in the new feature was collected by a company called Immersive Media, whose vans throughout these cities to collect the photos.

Oh my god. I just tried it. That has to be one of the coolest things I've seen Google do. Check out Las Vegas Blvd everybody!

I suspect the criminal population will just love it, too. I mean people find my house, Canary yellow with bright red trim....can't miss it.

Haha, I tried finding my house, but it looks like only major intersections have photos... for now. I just want to know how they got those shots with traffic right there.

Re: Google Maps Now with 360 Streetside Views
They use a really crazy looking camera shaped like a ball with about 8 or 10 lens all over it. Mounted it on the top of a car and drove around and around and around clicking away....high tech camera...low tech transportation...sounds like google.

Re: Google Maps Now with 360 Streetside Views
They're just stills, like the satellite images. The area around my house hasn't been updated for years.

Re: Google Maps Now with 360 Streetside Views
Some of those look really dangerous (and funny).
I found one with a car coming right at the camera.
I guess he just 'jumped' out of the way, or Google'd "HELP ME". LOL
