Need more knowledge on the use of keywords for SEO

Hi everyone, I have been working in a SEO company for quite some time. We have been coming across many projects but I need to get more knowledge about the ways of using keywords to get better results. There have been many ways that I have to get the desired results but having a good grip on the keywords makes a better one.

Can anyone give me some tips on this????

Re: Need more knowledge on the use of keywords for SEO

Theres a good seo guide here, Not everthing mind, Keywords doesn't mean so much anymore, their are so many variables.

Keywords should be based on demograpghics/psychographics.

I.E who your targeting, what will they search for? Also the uniqueness of key words.

Web Host, as a keyword will probably return around 50 million results, so it's VERY competetive and VERY hard to become number one in those results, Where as something like Server Host would return under the 10 million mark, so which one would give you the better odds of being number one in? But then who is going to search 'Server Host'... is it worth being number one?

And so on and so on.

Also... supposadly, number 2 in google is better than number 1, because people are used to the sponsored results that people generally out of habbit skip the first one :o

Don't know how accurate that is though [:

Re: Need more knowledge on the use of keywords for SEO

Good ideas guys.

Think of keywords as the way people will find you. Find around 30 keywords to describe your business, and check out a keyword popluarity tool like wordtracker or digital point. And find out some variations of those keywords.

Remmeber though keywords are 'phrases' your clients are looking for, not individual words. For example, If I was wanting to buy a laptop, first of all I would look at laptop sites to get a feel of the what was out there (not buying at this stage), I would then find out the brand I wanted an type something like Acer Laptop 4315 or something, this is the comparing part (the most likely keyword to get a sale), and this is the kind of keyword you are looking for.

If you need any more advice please feel to PM me.

Kindest Regards

Neil Maycocl

Re: Need more knowledge on the use of keywords for SEO

It is very important to get updated about the use of keywords in SEO services so that the results that come out match the quality and have better listings for the webpage. I would advise you to dig more information on the keywords so that you would have the all round knowledge of them. There are many resources that offer good info on keywords and they might help you to get updated. Hope this will help you.

Good luck!

Re: Need more knowledge on the use of keywords for SEO

One of the most important things is to get your keywords into the back link text.

And of course you must make sure that the site linking to you doesn't use rel=nofollow, as this stops any PR value going to your site (which is what webforumz does with all of it's site links)

It's a sales thing though isn't it, to encourage you to get supermember status and benefit both the site and yourself [:

Re: Need more knowledge on the use of keywords for SEO

It's mainly to stop potential spammers posting on the site just to link to their site.

But yeah, if you are a SM you do get this removed and can have links in your signatures straight away.
