Company name
Hello everyone!
I've been a web designer now for about 8 years, and have now decided to go it alone. I have come up with a few ideas for company names and wondered what people thought about them - before I register them and get to far.
The main aspect of my business will be web design (with database development) and I will also be offering domain names and hosting, plus a little printed work (which I will source to a friend of mine). - SpenMedia - does this cover the web design? It allows the addition of future areas in my business and is probably my fave
- SpenCreative - does this make it appear all I do is design?
- SpenStudio - would this mean anything to the general public?
Basically Spen is the company name, and I need that little part after to define it (plus allow for an available domain name!). Any suggestions and your thoughts on the above would be a great help!
Thanks

Re: Company name
SpenCreative is crap
I'd suggest something like SpenDesign - cause you're designing sites not media (if you get me)

Re: Company name
The company I work for at the moment is called X Design, and we have found this tends to give the impression we only design (not programming, hosting, domains, etc) - we had feedback on this basis from clients and lost clients.

Re: Company name
Media makes me think of games and animation etc.
What is the main function of your company - to design webpages and host :/
SpenNet?

Re: Company name
Design and development is my main business, which obviously has domains and hosting tied into it.
I also do animations (Flash) and the occasional multimedia CD/DVD. Plus the printed work (which is something I would like to push more).
I understand what you are saying, and I tend to agree (hence me questioning it from the start). However, doing a search oline there are a lot of web design companies who call themselves media... I just don't want to be boxed in by a name, and I feel media is loose enough to cover any future developments, etc.

Re: Company name
Media's connotations don't really fall in line with programming either, though.

Re: Company name
The only one there that you suggested that I sort of like is SpenStudio.
But it isn't descriptive enough.
How about
Spen Design Studio
Spen Web Studio
Spen Multi Media
Classy way to go is to use your name:
Dean Spen.com

Re: Company name
hmmm, yeah I like it to. Kinda short, and easy to remember. Just needs a super cool website, and a nice logo!

Re: Company name
*Sara smiles and thinks of several spicy retorts, however, she is to mature to post them since Jacob is such a fine young man and she does not wish to spoil his "innocence".*

Re: Company name
I may be new to this forum, but I get the impression that Jacob's innocence may have been spoilt some time ago
