Mozilla Ubiquity - the future of web interaction?

This morning I have been reading about Mozilla labs new little tool – Ubiquity.

This fantastic little FireFox add on makes browsing the web more user-centric, rather than site-centric. Pardon? I hear you call. Well basically, it makes common internet tasks, such as sending an email, search, find directions, etc, are so much easier and instant.

For instance, if you come across a web page that you like and want to send it to a friend, rather than having to copy the URL, open up your email, compose email and send, you just type “email bob” or “email this to bob” (you need a gmail/googlemail account for this to work). You can also highlight words you do not know and ask it to “define this” (it actually associates the word “this” with the page or highlighted statement).

This is absolutely quality, and even though it is just in prototype at the moment, you can already see the benefits.

What do you guys think? Is this the future of how we interact with the web?

You can read about it here: http://labs.mozilla.com/2008/08/introducing-ubiquity/
And her is the user manual: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Labs/Ubiqui..._User_Tutorial

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

I've tried it out, but the gmail integration doesn't work on ubuntu, so my venture short-lived.
