Free host needed. No ad's-Upload via own FTP.
Hi! Does anyone know of a FREE HOST, with the following:
No banner ad's, No pop-up ad's, No adverts at all. I want it so that you can upload your website via your own FTP program and also have a pretty short URL like:
http://MYNAME.HOST'SNAME.co.uk
Does anyone know of any?
Thanks

It doesnt exist, sorry man, but no matter where you go you will either have a long name, pop-under ads, or terrible service. I suggest checking out www.ucvhost.com they have stuff for only $1. its cool.

I have used freewebs before, and I dont suggest them. They don't offer FTP acess for free, and if you do pay the money to get FTP you can get real hosting with unlimited Traffic and Bandwidth for cheaper. The other site I dont really know, never heard of them.

How could a host offer all that and make money?
Your request seems rather unrealistic to me :-)

So far they seem ok to me, but if you look closely they are about to do away with their free hosting service, so whether they will charge you or not I dont know.
Nick, the reason that you can't find places like that anymore is cause usually they dont make money. DK3, Bravenet, Freewebs, and more used to offer Absolutely Free no catches but they almost went bankrupt from this so they started charging. I think Bravenet will still go Bankrupt though, cause the only difference in between their free and their Paid subscriptions, is that you dont have their banner on their, but if you know the coding you can take it off way too easily. This is with their free programs not their actual hosting.

That was my point. I think some companies need to look at the business model.

Kulegamr, you need to post only productive posts. That last post of yours was not productive.

ok, I understand. I don't have any complaints, I just didn't understand why you were picking on me. Take it easy, and from now on I will keep my starred words to myself.
