which operating system to choose on vps hosting

hi all
i m present at shared hosting and want to move to vps hosting.
My server vps hosting provides me with different operating systems as
under
1) Centos
2) debian
3) fedora
4) gentoo linux
5) opensuse
6) slackware linux
7) ubuntu

i would like to what all difference these operating systems have and
what all impact will i have on my php scripting files.

will i have to create my php mysql website again according to operating
system i choose. and on what basis shall i choose the operating system.

You know it's difficult to sat the difference between all these OSs as one has to try them all to judge about their performance. I have only used CentOS and it's great.

I like CentOS, but you can use any Linux distribution you like. If you are not familiar with system administration then someone else should choose the OS. It is important however what kind of virtualization technology are you going to use - VMware, Virtuozzo Containers, etc.

CentOS is a good OS, I have been using it and like how it works.

I myself use freebsd on my server, but seeing as how that's not an option, I'd go with debian. It's pretty stable, has a large userbase--meaning a lot of support--and is pretty up-to-date. I would also recommend gentoo, but from what I've heard there are some problems in the gentoo community.

I'd advise you to use Windows from the companies that specialize in that - it ban be aspnix or cirrushosting or some other companies.
This OS is usable and is dedicated to providing reliable web hosting solutions of the highest quality.
