Separating Domain Name Host (With Email Accts) to Web Hosting

Hi, here's my scenario on two hosting.

Host_1: I have a hosting account here. Registered domain, and my emails are setup on this host.

Host_2: Just an alternative hosting...just plainly host.

What's bothering me is this:

1. If I point the DNS of Host_1, change it to Host_2's DNS, how long will this have to take effect?

2. Will there be conflict if I have on BOTH hosts an index.html file?

3. And my main concern is, I've been using Host_1 for my emails, then I plan to change the DNS of Host_1 so that I will just have my web files uploaded on Host_2....leaving my Host_1 with the domain name & email accts.

My questions is, if I did this, will this affect the incoming/outgoing of my emails?

Do I need to reconfigure my email accounts with Host_2's mail server settings?

Or it does not affect at all my email accounts since the Host_1 have its own hosting capability?

Once you change the DNS or nameservers then eventually Host_1 will become obsolete because your domain name will resolve to the Host_2 nameservers. It is rather like moving house, once you have moved to the new one there is no point in looking for you or sending mail to the old one you are simply not there. You cannot choose to live at both addresses simultaneously so everything must be moved to the new address.

Thanks for the quick prompt as for the link as well.

Actually, this is not suppose to be a complication. It is a problem on my CLIENT's access to his account.

This CLIENT of mine have their Yahoo Smallbiz Hosting account (Host_1), their emails are registered on that hosting as well as with the domain. He doesn't want me to open his account, total restriction.

I'm posting this scenario because, the CLIENT just want me to get another hosting account. (Host_2). On that new hosting, their web files will be uploaded there and the CLIENT wants to keep Host_1 because he wants to maintain the emails & domain registered.

What you are doing is pointing the DNS for your domain name to Host_2 NOT Host_1 DNS.

As I explained this will not work. If you change the DNS to that of Host_2 then that is where EVERYTHING needs to be in order to function.

With your web files on Host_2 your website will be visible to the world. Your email setup will still be on Host_1 where NO email will be sent. You need to setup the email accounts on Host_2.

When you say the domain will remain on Host_1 do you mean they are the registrar's?
