Mark as repliable...
Hello,
I was just browsing through the 'get new posts' as I usually do, and it just occurred to me how handy it would be to have a personal marker-esque-thing, where I could set a flag to say that I wanted to reply to a thread after reading it.
My predicament is that I don't usually look at the main forums listings at all, except when I've found a thread that I could reply to, but would take up a bit of my time. In that situation, if I fancy browsing some more, to see what has been discussed in other newly updated topics, then I have to go re-find it again - if I remember to do so.
So if I could have a separate list, or just something to keep them in my 'new posts' lists, to say 'reply to this' (separate from subscribing to a thread) it would be super!
All just a suggestion of course,
And sorry for the really long sentences...

Re: Mark as repliable...
Yeah, kinda of like a personal webforumz bookmark area...with in the user control panel. I think that would be a great ideal personally!!

Re: Mark as repliable...
so, you want a kinda personal, 'my favourites', but for topics you decide?
If that is the case, then I think that could probabally be done.... depending on whether or not it will be used.

Re: Mark as repliable...
That sounds great! Something that would mark the posts for me and put them in a list... I'd use it anyway!

Re: Mark as repliable...
Do you all have thread subscriptions turned on? (user CP -> options)
If so, you can choose 'no email notification' from the thread subscription drop down.....
All threads you then get involved in will then appear in your user CP.... in order of last reply.
Is this feature something you are all aware of, and if so... could this not suffice?
If not, I'll get onto the favorites thing.

Re: Mark as repliable...
Hmm, I use that feature for threads I've already used - the problem comes when I haven't been involved in a thread, but want to reply to it, and forget...
For example if someone asks a question - "Where's the best place to start using AJAX"... I might think "okay, I can answer that - I'll just read some more posts first". Then I completely forget to answer the question at all - or can't remember which forum it was in if I do. Just for an illistration :P
Also some threads I've replied to I don't especially care about replying to again.
I don't want to make loads of extra work for you though!!

Re: Mark as repliable...
I am thinking there are allot of threads that I would like to bookmark and save in my user control panel, that way I can find them quickly and easily, because some of the posts have not been replied to in a while but are still useful, and hard to find...lol, for example...I still am looking for one thread and probably will never be able to find it.

Re: Mark as repliable...
I like this idea for this reason. Since I am learning new techniques from this forum. I often cannot reply to a thread because I cannot make a suggestion. However I would like to subscribe to the thread so that I can get the answers in my quest for learning. With the number of threads in each forum, it's often difficult to "find" a thread that I was interested in learning from.
There is a google maps thread in the Cafe (I believe) with the complete answer on how to implement it. I'd love to save that to favorites because I am working on a site right now that will need this feature.
Thanks for listening Rob!

Ok.... I will make that feature happen as soon as possible...
There is just one more BIG change that will be rolling out first.

Actually.... not so much of a feature... more of a radical new change....
Sorry no hints, but you'll be blind not to notice it when it happens.
