Help with Blogs.
This is more for people who have blogs but, if anyone else has some answers please feel free to post them.
So the people who have blogs: How do update them?
Do you upload every page separately, or is there another way?
Thanks,
Pádraig.

Re: Help with Blogs.
Pfft ... Like I'm gonna tell my secrets to you
Ok ... seriously ... it's a CMS Personally, I use my own. One I built myself and pretty damn proud of it too It's still a work in progress but it works to my liking.
Some popular ones you can download and install are:
MovableType
Textpattern
Wordpress
Drupal
Joomla
There ... there's probably more but those are the ones I could think of right now.

Re: Help with Blogs.
I'm behind the times. I manually add pages to mine. Been meaning to make a custom CMS for it, but I don't like coding very much

Re: Help with Blogs.
What kind of coding skills would you need to build your own CMS?

Re: Help with Blogs.
I use a CMS as well. My own Very proud of it too!
I used to upload all my pages separately but that got really tedious lol.
CMS is definitely the way to go.

Re: Help with Blogs.
I have just had a look at Joomla and its capabilities sound great. But I discover that unlike Dreamweaver you have to code everything. Unfortunately, I don't know how to code and don't have time to learn as I am so busy researching, writing and creating content. The more I get into this whole area of web design the more I think it sucks. It's like having to learn C++ programming before you can use a wordprocessor!
What a shame Microsoft were so lazy with Publisher - it could have been a brilliant wysiwyg graphic web interface designer if they had only developed it further.
Is there a CMS that doesn't require one to code?

Re: Help with Blogs.
Yes a CMS is the way to go, and I would totally make my own...that must be why I don't have a blog...too lazy.

Moveable Type is so good, it's just great but I like expression engine too.

Re: Help with Blogs.
I think the reason why I don't use a CMS is because I am such a perfectionist. I have roughly 30 pages on my site, so it's not too tedious to change a thing here or there if I revamp my site.

Re: Help with Blogs.
Hi
I built my own blog with a little help from some tutorials and a lot burning the mid night oil....
I have used PHP with a MySQL backend.
I have a user end which people blog (at the moment no one has) and then an administration area which has a form to create new threads and manage the whole blog space.
I was originally going to use wordpress as it was free but i thought lets be different. You can also buy some software called vBulletin which this forum use and 90% of other forums use.
Have a look at mine... you have to become a member....
